About this Video

Locally known as the “Econ,” the Econlockhatchee River is a north flowing, black water tributary of the St. Johns River which rolls at a lazy pace through Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties. From its source, which is Lake Conlin, the Econ joins the St. Johns River near Puzzle Lake just south of State Road 46. When the rains slow and the riverbank becomes exposed, one has to marvel at all the fallen trees and sliding earth that give way to the river’s edge. One thought stands out about the Econ: it’s Mother Nature “un-messed-around-with.”
